What to do now
Now until October 12
Make sure you’re registered to vote before ballots are mailed on October 13
Before ballots are mailed
Utah mails a ballot to every voter with an active registration. Your registration can go inactive if you skip voting in two general elections in a row. Check your registration to see whether yours is active. Your county clerk mails ballots on October 13.

Your envelope asks for the last four digits of your driver license, state ID card, or Social Security number. Your ballot still counts this year if you leave that blank. The same envelope holds a notice about a change to how ballots are mailed, starting in 2029. That change does not affect this election.
Mail your ballot by October 27

A postmark no longer counts. Utah dropped that rule in 2025, in House Bill 300. Your county clerk must receive your ballot by 8pm on November 3. The Postal Service asks for a week to deliver it, so mail yours by October 27. After that, use a drop box.

Drop boxes stay open until 8pm on election day. Early voting ends Friday, October 30, unless your county changes its dates. Your county clerk sets the locations and hours for both, so check them before you go.

It’s too late to mail your ballot. Drop boxes and vote centers close at 8pm. If you’re in line at 8pm, you can still drop off your ballot. Not registered yet? Register at a vote center today and vote on the same visit. Bring photo ID and proof of where you live.

If your signature doesn’t match, or you forgot to sign your envelope, your county clerk will contact you within two business days. Each county sets its own deadline for fixing it, so only your clerk knows yours. Answer the same day you hear from them. Track your ballot to check its status.
