Blockparty Utah

Data sources

Blockparty shows information that other people publish. Some of those publishers ask to be credited when their information is reused. This page names them, and every publisher whose terms nobody at Blockparty has read yet. It says what Blockparty takes from each one, and links to the originals.

Each entry below names the publisher’s terms and links to them. Where nobody at Blockparty has read a publisher’s terms yet, the entry says that instead.

An entry shows a review date only when Blockparty holds a record of that review. An entry with no such record shows no date, rather than a guess.

Utah Geospatial Resource Center (UGRC)

The state’s official map of Utah. It turns a street address into the voting precinct that address sits in, and into the districts that cover it.

Blockparty reads it from api.mapserv.utah.gov/api/v1 (opens in a new tab).

The street map drawn behind your address. It supplies the roads, the water and the street names on the small map shown once a lookup finds your address.

Blockparty reads it from tiles.arcgis.com/tiles/99lidPhWCzftIe9K/arcgis/rest/services (opens in a new tab).

Changes Blockparty makes to this data

This site changes UGRC’s precinct data in three ways. It picks each precinct’s Utah House district itself, by finding the district that covers the most of the precinct, instead of using a value UGRC provides. It merges multiple boundary pieces UGRC reports under one precinct ID into a single record. It uses a precinct’s ID as its name when UGRC leaves the name blank.

What UGRC says about this data

UGRC states the following about this data: “The data, including but not limited to geographic data, tabular data, and analytical data, are provided ‘as is’ and ‘as available’, with no guarantees relating to the availability, completeness, or accuracy of data, and without any express or implied warranties.”

Salt Lake County

Which Salt Lake County Council district covers each voting precinct in the county. Utah’s statewide map does not publish county council districts at all, so the county publishes its own.
